Fans United
if your a season ticket holder at your club, Promotion chasing League 2 side, Bury Football Club, have this week launched an incredible offer aimed specifically at season ticket holders from other clubs throughout the UK.
For Friday evenings fixture against fellow promotion chasers Shrewsbury Town (February 19th 7.45pm), excluding the two participating clubs, season ticket holders from any other football league club in the top five divisions can, on production of their season ticket, gain entry for just £5
Although the financial benefit for Bury FC will be negligible, Commercial Director Mark Catlin expressed his view that football generally needs to be offering more for its customers to combat the effect of the recession hitting not just football, but businesses generally throughout the UK.
"To be honest attendances at Bury have bucked the general trend at this level and been improving over the last few seasons, but this is primarily because of our improving performances on the pitch. We had a really poor turnout after our last home game against Macclesfield and our manager, Alan Knill, issued a plea to our fans asking what was the reason behind this particular night's attendance slump.
We were inundated with letters and emails and it gave us a fantastic insight into how fans generally now see football in this country. You often hear the saying 'the football family' and that is exactly what we are, fans and clubs, part of a general football family, and we all have to work together to ensure a prosperous future for football in the UK.
I have already had positive feedback from other clubs regarding this offer and we hope this is justified by a big turnout on Friday. Bury is surrounded by just so many clubs, we even have 8 Premier League clubs well within a 30 mile radius, and whilst Premier League football is a great spectacle, this fixture clashes with none of them, and as such we are hoping not only for an increased attendance, but a chance for us to give extra 'value add' to season ticket holders of other clubs.
Our hope is that in the future clubs reciprocate by giving our season ticket holders the chance of going to other games for a similar price, and this is already being discussed."
